Animals are an important element of the Chinese ornament and Lion are part of them.
Statues of guardian lions have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy, from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), and were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits.

Textured...
I love to touch textures...
I think this aspect of my "obsession" might come from my Job conditioning.
It is true that in my job you have to touch fabrics, materials trimmings all the time to determine and appreciate what will fit the best your collection.
If one day I come to you and start to touch your hair or cloth it is totally normal: I am a "texture addict" girl O-° !

My Dearest Provence...
Provence is the place my Parents chose to live when they came back from Australia and where I grew up with my brother.
It is a special place for me with bright colors and scents of nature such as pin tree, rosemary and thyme everywhere!
... And of course the melodious sound of Cicada!
Welcome home :)!!!

Welcome home :)!!!
I have posted several times in Dream Of Ocean about many beautiful places around the world but as a famous writer said "The hand of God payed a special attention to create such beautiful details on this part of the world..."
In Provence we have the "Mistral", which is strong and cold wind that blows from the mountains. There are many Windmills that were used to make flour, olive oil and paper with this energy.
Let's move to a Provençal market!
Here we are in "L'Isle sur la Sorgue" a beautiful typical provencal town crossed by the quiet and emerald-colored river called the "Sorgue".
It is a charming place where time flows in a slow motion, where people stop to drink a coffee at a terrace, lay under a platane tree or refresh their feet in the river after the visit of the market.
It is a well known town and the most famous in Europe for its Antique shops and Antique market!

Old Provençal houses and old shops windows.
Many wheels are still in action in the city. In old times they were a source of energy for all kind of processes. Now they give their charm to the villages.

You can find a great selection of local products, all fresh and healthy!
Let's see other villages!
In every Provençal village you find a central quiet place with a fountain surrounded by platane trees. It is where people use to meet each other, have a drink such as the famous anise alcohol "pastis" around a game of "petanque"!
Look at the windows...
My mountain the "Luberon"!

Siem Reap is the capital city of Siem Reap Province in northwestern Cambodia and a popular resort town as the gateway to Angkor region.
Angkor Wat was first a Hindu, then subsequently a Buddhist temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world.
Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early Dravidian Architecture (emerged in the Southern part of the South India), with key features such as the Jagati (A Jagati is a raised surface, platform or terrace upon which some buddhist or hindu temples are built). It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mytology.
Banteay Srei is a 10th-century Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva.
This Temple is built largely of red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings which are still observable today.
Consecrated on 22 April 967 A.D., Bantay Srĕi was the only major temple at Angkor not built by a monarch.

My Favourite Chinese Lantern!
Falling on the 15th day of the first lunar month, the Lantern Festival is
the first significant feast after Spring Festival. It marks the last day of the lunar New Year celebration. Happy Chinese New Year of the Horse by the way!
It is the celebration of "the declining darkness of winter".
The most important moment during that night is watching various wonderful Chinese lanterns.

Lanterns have been always important in China with special meanings.
During "The Lantern Festival" there are so many kinds of lanterns everywhere!
It is a day to appreciate the bright full moon with the family and to eat the yuanxiao (a rice ball made of sticky rice flour stuffed with different fillings like black sesame, red jujube...), which look like the full moon.

Red lanterns are generally used for weddings.
What about a nice lantern to decorate and to warm your place?
Airy lanterns...
Breath in, Breath out! ^-^
White lantern have a special signification too.
In Asia white represent the colour of Death so before the people use to announce the funeral by hanging a white lantern outside their house.
Now it has changed: white lantern are also used to decorate but in the collective sub-conscience this idea still present.

It is a famous place for ceramics and porcelains in China and it has a long history of ceramics making and a rich cultural heritage.
From the Yuan Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, emperors sent their officials to Jingdezhen to supervise the manufacture of royal porcelains.
They set up the Porcelain Office and built the royal kilns, which produced many wonderful ceramic articles.

It is already Christmas! Time is going so fast!!!
Christmas evokes for me the time when we lived in Strasbourg in the East of France.
It is such a nice region, it is surely a place where Santa Claus could live.

Bonsai 盆栽, lit. plantings in tray, from bon, a tray or low-sided pot and sai, a planting or plantings, "Bonsai" is a Japanese pronunciation of the earlier Chinese term pén zāi.
Bonsai first appeared in China over a thousand years ago on a very basic scale, known as pén zāi. Bonsai was believed to have had its start in the Han Dynasty.
Bonsai was introduced to Japan during the Kamakura period (1185 - 1333) by means of Zen Buddhism (Chan Buddhism - the Chinese origin of Zen).
Once bonsai was introduced into Japan, the art was refined to an extent not yet approached in China. Over time, the simple trees were not just confined to the Buddhist monks and their monasteries, but also later were introduced to be representative of the aristocracy - a symbol of prestige and honour. The ideals and philosophy of bonsai were greatly changed over the years.
For the Japanese, bonsai represents a fusion of strong ancient beliefs with the Eastern philosophies of the harmony between man, the soul and nature.
